Judith ‘Judy’ A. Burns of Leominster, worked at city hospital; 62 LEOMINSTER Judith “Judy” A. (Hayes) Burns, 62 years old, formerly of Norwood, MA, died August 12, 2009, in UMASS Memorial Healthcare, Worcester, after a short illness. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Thomas Burns; her 2 daughters, Amy Burns of Leominster, and Kate Burns of Fitchburg; 2 sisters, Susan Cavanaugh of Maryland, Nancy Restuccia of Boston; and a brother, John Hayes of Vermont. Judy also leaves her 4 grandchildren who knew her as “Mema” Joshua, Dylan and Nathan MacArthur, and Jakob Raby. Mrs. Burns was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on January 7, 1947, the daughter of Frederick and Margaret (Cocoran) Hayes, and had lived most of her adult life in the Leominster area. As a young girl, she grew up in Norwood and graduated from Norwood High School in the class of 1965. In the past 11 years, Judy had been working as a unit secretary for Health Alliance Hospital here in Leominster. BURNS Calling hours will be held at the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St., Leominster, on Sunday, August 16, 2009, from 2-4:30 pm. From 4:30-5:00 pm, a memorial service will be held where family members and friends will be invited to share words of remembrances of Judy’s life.
